Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. – Genesis 1:26-27

Notice the language – “Let us…” The creation was an event of celebration within the Triune God. Because of this, we need community as well. That’s why man alone in paradise was not enough; there had to be another like him. Man and woman were created together as an expression of the joyful, amazing Creator. Therefore our relationship with God was not meant to be lived alone, we were made for the joy (and challenge) of community.
