You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

– Deuteronomy 8:17-18 (NIV)

The pattern of Scripture is clear: God does want to bless us, but that blessing can cause us to forget God. This is why we need reminders. Our nature is to claim the credit, to make sure that we are seen as the source of our provision. But remember that you had no choice whatsoever in being born into this era of history and these economic times. Remember today that your employer nor your ability is your provider, but God alone.
