With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Being saved from “this corrupt generation” implies that we can be shaped by the mindset of our generation more than we realize. When God gets hold of us He changes the way that we look at everything. Our self image is now seen through the work of Christ. Our surroundings are seen in the light of God’s mission. The result is that a new generation comes forward. We were once not a people, but now we are the people of God living for the purposes of God in our time.
