Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees.

– Psalm 119:23 (NIV)

We are able to handle the criticisms of others when we get our identity from God. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Truth can be received with gratefulness and humility, while unfounded slander can be dismissed, because the person who meditates upon the Scripture doesn’t need the approval of others—they are already approved by God.
