They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

Christianity is not about comfort, though it can be comforting. It is not about ease, though it lightens our burdens. It is about testifying to what we have seen and heard, what has touched our lives and how we can touch others. We don’t overcome by shrinking back from our faith; we are called to go forward, even when the road is hard and we may feel all alone. This apocalyptic picture in Revelation is a guide to how we are to live today if we want to finish this race well.
