Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

– Ephesians 6:13-14 (NIV)

Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor,

The breastplate protected the heart and other vital organs of the soldier. We cannot stand before the attack of the devil on our own performance, but on God’s righteousness alone. To put on the breastplate of righteousness is to protect our heart from accusations that are probably true about us, but now have been covered by the death of Jesus Christ, who took our place on the cross. Without that breastplate, we are easy prey for the schemes of the evil one.
