The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. – Psalm 14:2-3

This can be a discouraging Scripture until you understand that it gives us good news. According to Scripture, we have become so corrupt that we cannot get ourselves to seek after God. But this is where God’s mercy shines. In our ignorance, He sent someone to teach us about the Father. As we turn aside, He sent someone to show us the way to God. As we became corrupt from Adam’s sin, He sent someone to take that sin upon Himself and bring us back to purity. In other words, this passage tells us that we need a Savior, or one who will save us from our sin. And thanks be to God, He sent a Savior for His people, Jesus Christ! That is good news indeed!
