Then they said to the king, “Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the decree you put in writing. He still prays three times a day.” When the king heard this, he was greatly distressed; he was determined to rescue Daniel and made every effort until sundown to save him. – Daniel 6:13-14
The very king who outlawed prayer was dismayed when he found out that his right hand man was disobeying his order. Daniel was a man of integrity both to God and to his employer and therefore gives us a lesson in being a witness; the king wanted to rescue Daniel because he brought so much value to the Babylonian kingdom. What about us? Are we able to make such a difference in our work world that, when we make stances for God’s righteousness, our non-believing employers will do everything they can to keep us on staff?
