Then a new king, who did not know about Joseph, came to power in Egypt. “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become much too numerous for us. – Exodus 1:8-9 (NIV)
Even though Joseph had been a key part in ensuring the dominance of Egyptian power over the known world, eventually he was forgotten. At that point, the children of Joseph and his 12 brothers, the Israelites, had grown very large in numbers. The story of the enslavement of the Jews tells us that, no matter what your achievements are, opposition is a fact of life. There is no easy path on this earth. However God uses this opposition to raise up deliverers like Moses, who would point the way for the greatest deliverer of all mankind, Jesus Christ. Know that your opposition has an opportunity in it to point toward Christ.
