So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel. When he saw her in the distance, the man of God said to his servant Gehazi, “Look! There’s the Shunammite! Run to meet her and ask her, ‘Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?'” “Everything is all right,” she said. – 2 Kings 4:25-26 (NIV)
When we read the story before this passage we find that everything is not all right. Her boy has just died, yet this boy was the fulfillment of a promise the prophet Elisha gave to her. As she approached Elisha with her great disappointment, we see the faith in her soul that God can change things in a moment. Her dreams for the future were dashed, but she was coming to the source of her dreams. Do you feel distraught because something important has been taken from you? Look at the Shunammite woman and go to the source that can redeem any disaster.
