The parable of the prodigal son was told to a mixed group of religious leaders and people who were considered sinful. The religious group was known for their judgmental attitudes toward those who were considered unclean, but Jesus challenged that mindset. How do we see our heavenly Father? As One who is ready to beat us for our rebellion, or do we see Him running toward us to embrace us as we turn from our sin? The mission of Jesus was to reveal the true nature of God the Father, and that revelation gives anyone who turns in repentance to God hope.
