Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

What a picture! God didn’t name the animals—Adam did. This was a part of the responsibility that God wanted Adam to have over the earth. God made the creation for mankind and God made mankind for Himself. It is important to remember that order, otherwise we will treat the earth like it belongs to us. We are called to rule this earth, but we will ultimately give an account to God of how we managed what belongs to Him.
