“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. – Mark 2:21 (NIV)

Jesus teaches us that we are such creatures of habit. We get very comfortable in our life patterns and don’t want to be pulled out of them. In many ways, once Jesus comes into our hearts we begin to feel the tearing of new cloth on old garments. We are then faced with a choice: either we keep the old clothing of religion or sin or we break out of our pattern and come into life. This is very uncomfortable for all of us, but Jesus comes to us as new wine and fresh cloth. He has come to refresh us with new life.
