In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!

– Hebrews 5:12 (NIV)

Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org

The writer of Hebrews is concerned that his readers are still dealing with external practices instead of being aware of their righteousness in Christ. There is a big difference between doing things to get God’s attention and knowing that we already have God’s attention in Christ. The former perspective becomes obsessed with managing behavior; the latter is more concerned with the opportunities that lie ahead as we walk in God’s favor.
