In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

– Ephesians 6:16 (NIV)

Notice that when Satan attacks he comes to us like flaming arrows. The Bible calls him the father of lies. Satan will lie about our worth, our purpose, our destiny, and our legacy. But God has not left us defenseless. We have faith, or the ability to believe promises in the Scripture that we don’t see yet in our lives. Faith is like a shield that keeps those lies at bay as we seek after God in our daily affairs. Don’t let your shield down, for it is impossible to please God without faith. Our ability to overcome is not based upon our fighting skills, but our ability to believe. The Lord has promised to fight our battles for us. We have to stand on that.
