Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” – Exodus 33:15-16

Moses knew that Israel was not going to stand out because of their temple, for at that point they only had a tent. He also knew that they would not stand out for their arts nor their military might, for they were recently freed slaves with very little resources. The only thing that would distinguish them was God’s presence. What about us? When we think of what makes us the people of God, what comes to mind?
