I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there three days I set out during the night with a few others. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts with me except the one I was riding on.

Nehemiah exhibited great initiative when he raised funds from the king of Persia to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem. Even though Nehemiah had a clear vision, he kept the vision to himself until he assessed the situation that he was facing. We can learn a lot from this behavior because we can be too hasty in sharing our vision with others. Every great vision needs to be protected until an understanding of the challenges ahead are made clear.
