“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” – Genesis 41:16 (NIV)

This statement in the story of Joseph is a significant one. Joseph was an interpreter of dreams. However, the pride surrounding his gifting created a deep divide in his family and led to his being sold into slavery. It has been many years now and for the first time Joseph admits that this ability is not his own – he is totally dependent upon God. Yet it is when he humbles himself that God uses the gift of interpretation to take Joseph from a dungeon to the Pharaoh’s court. How about us? How do we see our God given gifts?
