On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, but his mother spoke up and said, “No! He is to be called John.” – Luke 1:59-60 (NIV)

Whereas Zechariah was made mute because of his unbelief in the promises of God, it was Elizabeth who spoke up and revealed the identity of their newborn son. Elizabeth had an ability to believe God when her husband couldn’t. May this Mother’s Day be a reminder of the women all around us who are holding on to the promises of God. Some are praying for their children, others are praying for their husbands. Offer up prayer and thanksgiving for the faithful mothers who are being used by God everyday in ways that we are not aware of. Happy Mothers Day!
