He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.

– Psalm 18:16-17 (NIV)

Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org

This Psalm brings us back to the story of Moses going through the Red Sea. When we feel overwhelmed by the circumstances around us, God reaches from a place of perspective and power. We may feel that we will be destroyed, but God sees the bigger picture — His power is greater. As we pray this Psalm, we can’t help but get God’s perspective and become aware of the power that is available to us today, for we have someone greater than David here—Jesus Christ is the ultimate deliverer and the One who hears our prayers. He has delivered us and will deliver us again!
