He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.

– Acts 10:42 (NIV)

The doctrine of judgment is not talked about much, but it is a central teaching in the Scripture. The day is coming when Jesus will judge the living and the dead, believer and unbeliever, and we are given the responsibility to teach and preach about that event. The right to judge the entire universe has been given to Jesus Christ by the Father, and Jesus will hold God’s creation to an account for their deeds. This is why the mercy that the cross offers is so important to us, for the day will come when we need to be covered by His mercy as His judgment shakes the cosmos.
