Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. – Matthew 24:42-44 (NIV)
Holy Week reminds us that while Jesus was preparing for his death on the cross, most of Jerusalem was unaware what was about to happen. It seems that publicity nor a marketing plan are important to God. He values something much more challenging – watchfulness. It is in the process of being ready for the coming of the Son of Man that we are prepared when God desires to use us in our day to day activities. If we learn to walk by the dictates of God’s Spirit today, we will be ready when we least expect Him at the 2nd Coming.
