But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

– 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 (NIV)

Paul uses an interesting metaphor for the presence of Christ on the earth – he calls it a fragrance, an aroma. An aroma fills a room; it is hard to escape and everyone is aware of it. When we see the victory that Christ gives us and allow that victory to shape our daily activities, we emit a spiritual scent! We can’t create that fragrance, only God can. So what do people “smell” on our lives today? Take time with God today so that you can give the fragrance of the knowledge of Christ.
