As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.

What an amazing scene. Two businessmen left their trade to follow after Jesus. These burly fishermen haven’t heard much yet, but that doesn’t stop Jesus from calling them to follow him. We often think that we need to believe first before we follow in the ways of Christ, but many of the disciples of Jesus believed after they started following him. We often place expectations upon people that Jesus never intended, and in so doing we hinder people from a journey that leads to belief.
