Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter).

How did Andrew come to this conclusion? We don’t have an event to point to except that Andrew had spent time with Jesus. It is when we are willing to lay down our preconceived notions and explore the teachings of Jesus that we discover that Jesus was more than just a teacher—He was the Messiah of Israel and the world. Don’t just let your opinion of Jesus be formed by the latest television show or movie about Jesus; go to the source. You may come to the same conclusion that Andrew did.
