And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. – John 14:13-14 (NIV)

How can Jesus make such a bold claim? It’s in the statement, “in my name”. This phrase implies that we have the authority to represent Jesus on this earth, but that authority is directly linked to bringing glory to the Father. As we spend time with the Father, we gain His perspective and heart toward His creation. As a result, our requests are more and more shaped by God’s glory and not our own. Prayer will actually change our agendas to God’s agendas. That is when our prayers have earth-changing power!
