And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. – John 14:16-17 (NIV)

The Holy Spirit has been sent to give us counsel and a pathway to truth. We think of truth as a body of knowledge to convince us of right against wrong, but Jesus meant something else. Earlier in this chapter Jesus states that He is the way, the truth, the light. In other words, truth is not sets of answers, but a person – Jesus Christ. Truth is the tree of life, and not the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We want easy, set solutions, but the Holy Spirit wants to give us truth – and ultimately – life itself.
